Finally, we continue the Lady Earthdawn saga as we find our heroes lost far below the horror-wracked city of Sareatha. After escaping the clutches of the Nethermancers, with Head in tow, T'Sareth, Candace, and Landas find Khoral and escape to the surface...but not before Candace makes a decision which will have dire consequences for the city above. Chills! Thrills! Rampant potty humor!

Patricia's back! Although I see fit to demote her to 'guest host' status right out of the gate. But never mind, she'll earn her way back in in short order. This week Patrica, Ed, Clyde, and Alex bitch about cut-scenes in videogames (which Ed takes advantage of to make a cheap swipe at Mamoru Oshii), complain about the Akira live-action film, and grudgingly respect Mamoru Oshii's bountiful genius as we review the single Oshii film Ed can bare to watch - Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer. That's right folks, the kid gloves are off as Ed and Alex square off over the merits of Mr. Mamoru Oshii! Is he a mad genius or a wannabe hack?

Also, Patricia talks a bit about SugoiCon (where we totally failed to hang out, due to some organizational errors on Alex's part - go figure.)

Another long, rambly talk this week - but it's a good kind of ramble where you end up in fun, unexpected places. Clyde brings us a news item regarding Hayao Miyazaki's hiring practices, Ed wants to talk about legal problems for the Yakuza, and I make everyone watch a pretentious Japanese art film. Pretty sure I say fuck in there somewhere too, just to make everyone comfy.

Once again we welcome Theory From the Closet's Clyde Rhoer to the Guest Host chair - this week we discuss Clyde's Gen Con exhibition plans, aka ClydeBooth and John Carpenter's 1986 martial arts romp Big Trouble in Little China.

Once again, we welcome returning guest co-host Clyde Rhoer from Theory From the Closet as we discuss much that is geeky and awesome. Like what you ask? How about a followup on that Far West Kickstarter? No? What about the sudden Nintendo 3DS price drop? Oh, and there's a film discussion tucked away in there somewhere as well - something about a bunch of assassins. 13 of them, in fact.

We sat down with game designer Gareth-Michael Skarka on day one of Gen Con last week - on tap were discussions about the upcoming spaghetti western / wuxia mashup project Far West, the Buckaroo Banzai RPG, trans-media, comic books, and an explanation: just what was that watermelon doing there?

We pack more awesome into 28 minutes than you can imagine!

Ed and I discuss what we're looking forward to checking out at Gen Con 2011! We talk seminars, cool stuff to buy (hint: Burning Wheel Gold and the Mouse Guard Box Set!), Games on Demand, and the 2011 Gamerati Tour!

Clyde Rhoer of Theory From the Closet fame joins us once again to discuss the recent Playstation Network hack and his favorite film, Sanshiro Sugata! We've long shied away from discussing Kurosawa films, as they've been discussed at length by far more knowledgable people - but I think we came away looking pretty darn clever. Sometimes it happens that way...

Now that we've introduced our cast, let's see what kind of zany hijinks they get caught up in! Killing baby gods (and stealing eyes from big ones), shifting gears from task resolution to conflict resolution turns out to be harder than we thought, Ed regrets a few things, and Landas cries. Lots of drama within!

Fair warning: this is not a normal Gamecast. This is a Gamecast 'Gaiden', a 'side-story' if you will. Ed and I discuss the mechanics behind converting our Earthdawn campaign to John Harper's Lady Blackbird. This is in-the-trenches, let-me-tell-you-about-my-character, crunchy-as-all-fuck, game-mechanics porn. If that sort of stuff gets you wet, then step right up. Otherwise catch us on the flip-flop. You've been warned.

Ed chats about the transition from the old campaign to the new, why we did what we did, and I explain how John Leguizamo influenced my character. No, really.

Part 1 of 2.

As noted - we'd love some feedback on the episode since this is something of an experiment. Please send comments, compaints, or dirty photos to: musashi (at) yellow-menace.com.

This week we feature an interview with game designer / publisher James Raggi of Lamentations of the Flame Princess fame. Also on tap are Zak S. and Mandy Morbid of Playing D&D With Porn Stars and I Hit It With My Axe. Zak chats about his newly released city-building supplement Vornheim. Other topics of discussion include Keebler elves and why I should never be brought along on an old-school dungeon crawl.

In addition, James has graciously offered our listeners a discount offer valid at the Lamentations of the Flame Princess webstore - but you'll have to listen to get the code!

(Note: At several points during the podcast we discuss Mr. Raggi's adventure Death Frost Doom in some detail, which could potentially spoil the module for those who haven't played it yet. If you intend to play Death Frost Doom at some point, please be aware there are spoilers within...)

Witness this special episode recorded at Ed's chateau high in the Latverian moutain range - we discuss Patricia and Nathan's trip to Anime Punch, box office figures for 3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstacy, Wilson Yip's A Chinese Ghost Story remake, and this week's film review - Peking Opera Blues! Bonus: meet Ed's mysterious Canadian wife, Steph!

We continue our love of all things John Harper as Ed discusses running Danger Patrol for our local gaming Meetup. I ran the classic James Bond 007 RPG (with interesting results). And a brief sermon on 'inclusiveness', or why it's important to not act like a douchebag at game meetups (unless there are Scientologists in attendance).

Finally back in the saddle after a month-long bout of the flu! A lot has happened since we recorded the last episode...we chat about the Japan earthquake and one serious badass who don't take shit from Mother Nature, racist nitwit Alexandra Wallace's YouTube rant, Keanu Reeves 47 Ronin and the Akira adaptation, the FUNimation sale, and Bong Joon-ho's Mother. Phew! Plus, we debut Patricia's Picks and hit you motherscratchers up for some listener mail.

We're back in black on this week's podcast, featuring a discussion of Kim Ji-Woon's The Good, The Bad, The Weird. Ed and Jay help me pick apart this minor masterpiece of Korean cinema. Can we successfully purge ourselves of the lingering spirit of Devil's Dynamite? Listen and find out!

This week we welcome a special guest-host, Theory From the Closet host Clyde Rhoer!  While Clyde is primarily known as an RPG podcaster, he's also something of a Japanophile and offered to help us pick apart Noboru Iguchi's 2009 gonzo flick RoboGeisha.

We also discuss the latest news about the FUNimation 1337 lawsuit, FUNimation's current financial state, and even chat a bit about Joss Whedon's Firefly.

(Note: No, we didn't forget about Epsiode 14 - it's done and ready to release. We simply felt that, given the time-sensitive nature of some of the material in this episode, it would be best to release it quickly. Episode 14 will follow shortly.)

It's our annual Super Bowl Spectacular episode! That's right, while all of America was watching the Yankees stomp the Steelers into paste, we were talking about Godfrey Ho's Devil's Dynamite, a kung-fu drama so dreadful that two of the Yellow Menace staff are now in therapy! Good luck, guys.

Also on tap - we remember the late, great Tura Satana, star of Russ Meyer's seminal boobsploitation flick Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill. Plus, anime piracy is good for anime sales? What gives?!?

Hey, it's the first installment of the Yellow Menace Gamecast! Most of us (Patricia excepted) are game geeks to one degree or another so it seemed fitting that we should spend a couple of hours a month talking about it. Plus - it'll give us extra incentive to attend Gen Con every year (not that we needed it)!

This week's topic is 'Has Pathfinder caught up with D&D 4e?', or as some might read it 'Has 4e utterly doomed Dungeons and Dragons'?

(Side note: We recorded a totally different first episode, but it was pretty rambling and lengthy - certainly not the kind of episode you want to lead with...this new episode was recorded at the last minute. In case you're wondering, the topic of the original episode was 'Gaming With Kids' and included myself, Greg, and Ed. We may still post that at some point, but it's going to require some extra time in the oven so-to-speak.)
